DoD and Federal Agencies
Pace Analytical® has been an industry leader in persistent organic pollutant testing for over three decades and was one of the first commercial laboratories to analyze for PFAS compounds. We are accredited by all national and federal bodies with PFAS regulatory requirements. We also maintain certifications and accreditations in every state that offers or requires them.
Pace has been certified by the EPA and DoD for all available methods for testing aqueous and nonaqueous matrices. These methods include EPA 537 v1.1, EPA 537.1, EPA 533, DoD QSM 5.1, DoD QSM 5.2, and DoD QSM 5.3. In addition, we can use test method 537M to test for PFAS not covered under one of the existing validated methods.
We can help you comply with the DoD mandate to treat PFOA and PFOS as regulated substances by testing all water systems supplying drinking water to the base.
We can also test non-potable waters, including wastewater (influent and effluent), groundwater, surface water, and leachate for PFAS contamination.
We frequently test for PFAS on military installations and other sites where Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF) has been used to extinguish fires. Whether used as part of a training exercise or in the event of an actual fire, PFAS contamination resulting from AFFF can remain for decades, even if AFFF is no longer used on-site.
Pace can test for residual PFAS contamination. If AFFF has been used recently, we can ascertain the extent of the contamination or validate that PFAS has been effectively remediated.
Incineration has been a DoD-approved method for disposing of stockpiles of PFAS-containing AFFF. However, soil, ash, groundwater, and air samples taken from incinerator sites and the surrounding area has shown elevated levels of PFAS. Pace Analytical® is capable of testing all of these matrices - and monitoring incinerator stacks for PFAS residue - to help you determine the efficacy of your disposal strategy.
Pace has a long history of sampling stack emissions and ambient air for a wide range of contaminants. We've leveraged our expertise in this space to develop reliable methods for sampling, testing, and monitoring air emissions for PFAS compounds. Our team can help you:

The Pace Rapid Response Team can quickly respond to any emergency. Our team will coordinate sample container delivery, assist with technical information needed onsite, and ensure samples are delivered as quickly as possible to the appropriate Pace laboratory. In many cases, we can provide PFAS results in as little as 24 hours.
Our mobile lab is the only certified mobile lab in the industry capable of analyzing PFAS in the single-digit, parts-per-trillion range. This lab can identify PFAS plumes and source areas and provide fully defensible data, often with same-day results and at a lower cost than expedited services at other labs.
